Sequence-specific transcription factor which is part of a developmental regulatory system that provides cells with specific positional identities on the anterior-posterior axis. Also binds to its own promoter. Binds specifically to the motif 5'-CYYNATTA[TG]Y-3'. SWISS: P20719 Gene ID: 3202 p53基因保护细胞不会癌变，HOXA5协助细胞的p53保持适当水平。如果HOXA5水平下降或完全缺乏，p53基因就不能防止细胞癌变。低水平的HOXA5通过另一种促甲基化机制使基因不能表达而发生。正常状态下，p53肿瘤抑制蛋白发现DNA的损伤，将信息传递给细胞以修复损伤或者导致死亡。过少或没有p53不仅减弱细胞正常功能，而且降低细胞感受损伤的能力。因此，若细胞缺少HOXA5蛋白也很可能是肿瘤发展的重要过程。 |
