Human interleukin 6 (IL-6) is a 26-30 kDa glycoprotein with 183 amino acids in length. IL-6 is a pleiotropic cytokine that plays an important role in the final differentiation of B cells into Ig secreting cells. IL-6 acts on B cells, T cells, hepatocytes, hematopoietic progenitor cells and cells of the CNS. IL-6 is expressed by T cells, monocytes, fibroblasts, endothelial cells and keratinocytes. This recombinant human IL-6 is produced by human cells. Biological activity: The activity was measured by its ability to stimulate the proliferation of human TF-1 cells (human erythroleukemic indicator cell line). |
