Function: Mediates the uptake of glutamate into synaptic vesicles at presynaptic nerve terminals of excitatory neural cells. May also mediate the transport of inorganic phosphate. Subcellular Location: Cytoplasmic vesicle, secretory vesicle, synaptic vesicle membrane. Membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein (Potential). Cell junction, synapse, synaptosome. Tissue Specificity: Expressed in several regions of the brain including amygdala, cerebellum, cerebral cortex, hippocampus, frontal lobe, medulla, occipital lobe, putamen and temporal lobe. 25 ug total protein per lane of various lysates (see on figure) probed with VGLUT1 monoclonal antibody, unconjugated (bsm-60887R) at 1:1000 dilution and 4°C overnight incubation. Followed by conjugated secondary antibody incubation at r.t. for 60 min.
