Spectrins are a family of filamentous cytoskeletal proteins that function as essential scaffold proteins that stabilize the plasma membrane and organize intracellular organelles. Spectrins are composed of alpha and beta dimers that associate to form tetramers linked in a head-to-head arrangement. This gene encodes an alpha spectrin that is specifically expressed in nonerythrocytic cells. The encoded protein has been implicated in other cellular functions including DNA repair and cell cycle regulation. Mutations in this gene are the cause of early infantile epileptic encephalopathy-5. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants.[provided by RefSeq, Sep 2010] SWISS: Q13813 Gene ID: 6709 血影蛋白(spectrin)又称收缩蛋白，是红细胞膜骨架的主要成份,参与了细胞骨架结构的形成。但不是红细胞膜蛋白的成份,约占膜提取蛋白的30%。血影蛋白属是类似肌球蛋白的膜的外在性蛋白的一种。Spectrin α是膜里侧结构蛋白质之一，除起支持双层脂质外，还有保持红细胞外形的作用，Spectrin-α占里侧结构蛋白之60—70％。 |
