Able to use UDP-galactose to synthesize galactosylceramide with 10% of efficiency with which it utilizes UDP-glucose. [Catalytic activity] UDP-glucose + N-acylsphingosine = UDP + D-glucosyl-N-acylsphingosine. Lipid metabolism; sphingolipid metabolism.
