background: MAK3 belongs to the acetyltransferase family, MAK3 subfamily. It contains one N-acetyltransferase domain. It is a probable N-acetyltransferase. Function: Catalytic subunit of the N-terminal acetyltransferase C (NatC) complex. Catalyzes acetylation of the N-terminal methionine residues of peptides beginning with Met-Leu-Ala and Met-Leu-Gly. Necessary for the lysosomal localization and function of ARL8B sugeesting that ARL8B is a NatC substrate. Subunit: Component of the N-terminal acetyltransferase C (NatC) complex, which is composed of NAA35, NAA38 and NAA30. Subcellular Location: Cytoplasmic Similarity: Belongs to the acetyltransferase family. MAK3 subfamily. Contains 1 N-acetyltransferase domain.
